The Victoria Garden Barbarians team is comprised of players that mostly work for small companies who cannot field a team, but have all exclusively been resident of Victoria Garden (VG), a small development constructed in 1988 and affording resplendent views of the Pokfulam Riviera and local graveyard. More affectionately known as “the Commune”, VG possesses a close-knit community, unique to Hong Kong, with stoicism in the face of intolerable odds very much the VG Baa-baas's ethos that carried us unexpectedly to be crowned 2018 Mixed Tag Rugby Champions. Of note, VG Club Chairman, Mike Davies, a proud resident of VG and athlete of mercurial and well-hidden talent, has a unique bond to this tournament, as it was created some 35 years ago by his father, David Davies.
