Pitch Perfect: Hong Kong Corporate Sevens Rugby tournament raises HK$1.2 million

In December 2013, Savills hit the refresh button and what was previously known as the Profession Sevens became the Hong Kong Corporate Sevens. It was also coincidently our 30th Anniversary.

The Hong Kong Corporate Sevens not only had a new name, it had a new home and a silver sponsor. The Macquarie Group together with Savills hosted a successful tournament at So Kon Po where 16 corporate teams battled it out for the esteemed crown – King of the Sevens. The hospitality village built on the Indian Recreation Club Grounds ensured that the tournament retained a family ‘day out’ atmosphere.

We also gave ourselves a goal: to raise a million HK dollars in order to convert three derelict tennis courts into a world class multisurface sports pitch suitable for rugby and other ball sports for use by the Po Leung Kuk Rugby kids and the Yuen Long Community at large.

We were delighted to announce after the Tournament that with the support of the participating companies/ teams, our silver sponsor the Macquarie Group, the HKRU, FCC charity Fund and Savills we had raised a total of HK$1.2 million.

A cheque was duly handed over to Ms Angela Leong Chairlady of the Po Leung Kuk and work on the project commenced. The final pitch was completed and opened in June 2015.

We thank everyone involved for supporting Pitch Perfect!
